(CNA reporter Huang Kuo-fang, Chiayi City, 10th) Due to a stationary front and a southwest monsoon, sporadic rockfalls occurred along the Alishan Forest Railway line, leading to a two-day precautionary suspension starting yesterday. As the rain in the mountain areas has eased, the collapsed rock and soil near Jiaoliping have been cleared, and track inspections are complete. The entire line will resume operations tomorrow.

The Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency's Alishan Forest Railway and Cultural Heritage Office, based on Central Weather Administration forecast data, had implemented a precautionary suspension for June 9th and 10th to ensure operational safety, as the stationary front and southwest monsoon were likely to cause short-duration heavy rainfall.

The Alishan Forest Railway and Cultural Heritage Office issued a press release today stating that the rainfall caused sporadic rockfalls along the line, with the most severe collapse of earth and stones at the 35.29-kilometer mark (near Jiaoliping). All were cleared by 2 PM today, and cleanup operations and track inspections have been completed.

Therefore, the Alishan Forest Railway main line (Chiayi to Alishan section), as well as the Zhushan, Zhaoping, and Shenmu branch lines located within the Alishan National Forest Recreation Area, will resume operations starting tomorrow. (Editor: Li Hsi-chang) 1150610
