(Central News Agency, Washington/Dubai, 10th Combined Foreign Reports) The US military announced today that it launched a new round of airstrikes against Iran overnight. This came just hours after US President Donald Trump warned that the US would launch new attacks if a peace agreement was not reached.

According to Reuters, the US Central Command posted on social media platform X, stating, "These strikes are a response to Iran's unreasonable and persistent acts of aggression," and noted that the airstrikes were launched at 5:15 PM Eastern Time, 12:45 AM Tehran Time.

This attack is the latest development in the escalating mutual attacks between the US and Iran, which could reignite a full-scale war that was temporarily halted by a fragile ceasefire reached in early April.

Iran's Mehr News Agency reported that explosions were heard in the port city of Sirik, and air defense systems west of Tehran were activated.

Earlier today, Trump told reporters at the White House, "We are going to strike them, and we are going to strike them very hard." (Editor: Zhang Xiaowen) 1150611
