(CNA, Reporter Shen Ju-feng, Keelung, June 10) Premier Cho Jung-tai said in Keelung today that the recent wind and rain have been a "timely rain" for Taiwan, as many reservoirs in the central and southern regions have seen their water levels rise, ensuring no shortage of water for public use and no worries.
In the afternoon, Cho visited three temples in succession in Qidu District, Keelung, accompanied by Tung Tzu-wei, the Democratic Progressive Party's candidate for Keelung mayor.
In his speech, Cho pointed out that the wind and rain of the past few days were a "timely rain" for Taiwan. Much of the rain fell in the central and southern regions, which had recently been short of water, leading to an increase in the water levels of the Tsengwen and Nanhua reservoirs. This ensures there is no shortage of water for public livelihood and no cause for concern. He also prayed to the deities today for "favorable winds and timely rain," hoping the rain would fall into the reservoirs and not onto the streets.
Cho noted that Tung Tzu-wei had previously proposed to double the holiday bonuses for persons with disabilities and a four-stage parenting policy blueprint covering "birth, childcare, nurturing, and education." He stated this aligns with President Lai Ching-te's new strategic policy of growth allowances for ages 0 to 18 to tackle Taiwan's low birth rate challenge, showing great spirit.
