Rockfall Blocks Road in Miaoli's Tai'an Township; Villagers Clear Lane by Hand

Xiangbi Village Chief Yang Huifu and tribal members manually cleared some of the rocks this morning, allowing single-lane traffic to pass. They urged the public to be cautious when passing through.

Xiangbi Village Chief Yang Huifu stated that he received a call from the Tai'an Township Office early this morning inquiring about mountain rainfall and road conditions. He reported that it had been raining all night, and the loose mountain soil could cause rockfalls, making it difficult for villagers to commute to work or school. After consulting information from the Central Weather Administration and local conditions, the township office announced a one-day suspension of work and classes early this morning.

Chief Yang said that during his morning patrol, he discovered a large amount of rock debris that had fallen from the cliff face on the Daan Road suspension bridge section. Large and small rocks were scattered across the entire road surface, hindering vehicle traffic. Fortunately, sanitation workers and tribal youth passed by and immediately began manually clearing the smaller rocks, opening a single lane for traffic. The larger rocks will be removed by engineering personnel dispatched by the Tai'an Township Office.

The Miaoli County Fire Bureau pointed out that according to meteorological data, the recent stationary plum rain front requires strict vigilance against potentially disastrous heavy rainfall, which could lead to flash floods, landslides, and rockfalls.
