(Central News Agency, New York, 9th, Comprehensive Foreign News) To celebrate the upcoming 250th anniversary of the signing of the US Declaration of Independence, the French aerobatic team Patrouille de France flew over the Statue of Liberty today, painting the Manhattan skyline with the blue, white, and red of the French flag.

According to AFP, eight Alpha jets of the Patrouille de France flew over the symbolic landmark, the Statue of Liberty, a gift from France to the United States that was officially unveiled in 1886.

Lieutenant Colonel Brice Beaudouin, commander of the Patrouille de France, told AFP, "To be honest, flying over the Statue of Liberty is something I never thought I would have the chance to do in my lifetime."

The mission, named 'Liberte 250', highlights France's support for the American revolutionaries, making Paris one of Washington's earliest international allies.

This deployment will continue until July 5th, with multiple flyovers planned in locations including Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC, and will fly over New York again on the final day of the July 4th celebration of the anniversary of the US Declaration of Independence.
