(Central News Agency reporter Li Yawen, Taipei 9th) Lam Wing-kee, the manager of Causeway Bay Books, has temporarily suspended the bookstore's operations due to his poor health condition. Lam stated that whether and when the bookstore will resume operations is "uncertain" and will depend on his recovery. "If I'm feeling well, I'll open; if not, I won't," he said.

He admitted that his health fluctuates and that he still needs rest and treatment.

Lam expressed gratitude to the hospital for its care and to the public for their concern.

Causeway Bay Books reopened in Taiwan, initially located near MRT Zhongshan Station. Due to the expiration of the original lease and the landlord's decision not to renew, after six months of searching and relocation, the store reopened at its current address on Jinmen Street, Zhongzheng District, on September 20, 2024.

At that time, Lam stated that as long as one stands on free land, one can find a way to live, and that health and freedom are the most important things. He acknowledged the pressure of running a bookstore but emphasized that selling books is secondary; the more important purpose is to have a place to communicate with people, promote reading, and foster reflection on the current state of society.
