(Central News Agency reporters Tsao Ya-yen and Wang Hung-kuo, New Taipei City, 9th) Kuomintang New Taipei City mayoral candidate Lee Szu-chuan today announced animal protection policies including the establishment of a municipal animal hospital. Democratic Progressive Party New Taipei City mayoral candidate Su Chiao-hui, while accompanying Premier Cho Jung-tai on a visit to a kindergarten, reiterated her family care policies, hoping for central and local government cooperation to create a family-friendly workplace.
Lee Szu-chuan visited the outstanding animal protection community "Xiaochengli Love Adoption Station" in Xindian and announced six major animal protection policies. These include establishing the New Taipei City Municipal Animal Hospital, waiving registration and consultation fees for citizens who adopt dogs or cats from New Taipei City animal shelters, promoting a public pet life memorial park, establishing a wildlife rescue center, promoting the transformation and upgrading of "Animal Homes," strengthening pet industry management, and building a smart animal governance platform.
Lee pointed out that there are nearly 370,000 registered dogs and cats in New Taipei City alone, the highest number in the nation, indicating that pet care is no longer a minority issue but a part of daily life for many families.
Lee believes that a city's progress is not just measured by how tall its buildings are, but by its respect for life. Therefore, animal policies cannot stop at "capture, shelter, and management." His next step is animal governance, planning a complete system from rescue, medical care, and life education to smart management, making New Taipei City an animal-friendly city.
Meanwhile, Su Chiao-hui accompanied Premier Cho Jung-tai to visit a non-profit kindergarten for the children of employees stationed at the Xinzhuang Joint Office Building. Su stated that the President recently announced 18 measures under the "New Taiwan Population Strategy," and she hopes the central and local governments can work together to promote more family-friendly workplaces and policies that support families with children.
Su mentioned her "Three Major Family Care Policies." Regarding childcare, she proactively mediates to help companies "form teams to establish childcare facilities" and promises to subsidize 50% of losses for the first three years if companies incur losses from setting up childcare services. She also plans to introduce nighttime childcare services at the 17 parent-child centers in New Taipei City that currently offer drop-in childcare.
Additionally, the Taiwan People's Party accused Su Chiao-hui this morning of nepotism and benefiting her sister, Su Chiao-chun, after she became CEO of akaSwap, a subsidiary of Weiru Technology. They alleged that Su Chiao-hui helped her sister's company receive consecutive subsidies and that Su Chiao-chun failed to disclose her identity as required by law. Su Chiao-hui responded that this was a baseless accusation, stating that her sister's company is not a related enterprise of Weiru Technology, and hiring them to build a website does not make them a subsidiary.
Su Chiao-hui expressed regret, saying she has never attacked her opponents during the election campaign, but whenever her opponents face a major controversy, their camp holds a press conference to attack her family, which she finds unacceptable. She stated she will continue to propose policy visions and seek the public's affirmation through positive means. (Editor: Li Hengshan) 1150609
