(Central News Agency reporter Zhang Jianzhong, Taipei, 9th) Gudeng Chairman Ming-Chien Chiu stated today that AI infrastructure demand represents solid growth, not an illusory bubble. He expects the industry climate to improve in the second half of the year and is optimistic about the future outlook.

Gudeng, together with Yeider and 16 other semiconductor component and material manufacturers, formed the Deshin Semiconductor Alliance to expand into overseas markets. At the alliance's media exchange event, Chiu said in an interview that Gudeng's subsidiary, Jiaqi, is assembling AI servers for GIGA Computing, with production capacity unable to keep up with demand, indicating very robust AI demand.

Chiu pointed out that AI infrastructure demand is growing solidly and is not an illusory bubble. He expects the industry climate to improve in the second half of the year and believes the AI boom will not change in the next three to five years, expressing optimism about the future.

Regarding the world's richest man, Elon Musk's Terafab large-scale semiconductor manufacturing plant project, Chiu confirmed rumors that Terafab personnel had contacted Gudeng and shared his views on the Terafab project.

Chiu said the concept of Terafab involves using a perfect FOUP (Front Opening Unified Pod) to eliminate the need for a cleanroom. However, he noted that the key to building a wafer fab is EUV (Extreme Ultraviolet) lithography equipment, not the cleanroom, suggesting the Terafab project seems to have been proposed by someone who does not understand the actual operation of semiconductors.

Regarding the progress of the Deshin Semiconductor Alliance, Chiu stated that the alliance was established in 2023 primarily to share costs and risks by working together as a group to serve TSMC in the United States. The alliance turned profitable in its first year, proving the alliance model is viable.

Yeider Chairman Sheng-Zhe Chueh said the Deshin Semiconductor Alliance has expanded from an initial 8 members to the current 18 members. In addition to the benefits of joint new product development, it also has the effect of expanding customer or supply chain networks. The alliance does not rule out further expansion in the future.
