(Central News Agency reporter Yang Sirui, Tainan, 9th) Xianzhuan International Company, a seafood processor in Xuejia District, Tainan City, has successfully exported Taiwanese milkfish products to Canada. The first shipment of 20 tons departed today and will be sold through major local supermarket chains, opening a new international channel for Tainan's milkfish aquaculture industry.
Li Fanglin, Director of the Agriculture Bureau of the Tainan City Government, stated at the departure ceremony that milkfish is a representative farmed species in Taiwan, and Tainan is a key aquaculture hub with a complete industrial chain and mature farming technology. He noted that successfully opening the Canadian market is not only a major breakthrough for Xianzhuan International but also opens a new international channel for Tainan's milkfish industry and injects strong momentum into the export of high-quality Taiwanese aquatic products.
Director Li added that the Canadian supermarket chain involved in this cooperation has over 1,000 stores locally, representing a massive sales network with high market representation. If sales performance is satisfactory, it could further promote a contract farming system. The city government will continue to assist more Tainan aquaculture farmers in obtaining international certifications to collectively expand export capacity and drive overall industrial upgrading.
According to information provided by Xianzhuan International, the company has continuously invested in quality upgrades and international certifications in recent years, demonstrating Taiwan's leading strength in sustainable development, food safety, and international standards for the aquatic industry. This successful entry into mainstream Canadian supermarket chains signifies that local consumers highly recognize the quality and food safety of Taiwanese milkfish, and also symbolizes that Taiwan's aquatic processing and brand strength are gradually gaining recognition in the international market.
