This year, the event has not only expanded to include a new "Mixed Team" event but has also aligned with the World Badminton Federation (BWF) by pioneering the 15-point scoring system, allowing these emerging talents to adapt early.

The 2026 Asian University Badminton Championships feature 130 players from 11 countries and regions, and will be held from June 10 to 14 at the Taipei Municipal Gymnasium.

The host team, Taiwan, is fielding its best players again this year, led by coaches Lu Jingyao, Liu Jiacheng, and Yang Zhijie. The players include Guo Guanlin, Lin Guanting, Cai Fucheng, Lai Boyou, Huang Congyi, Liao Chaobang, Lin Siyun, Cai Xinbei, Cai Ruolin, Wang Yizhen, and Lin Zhijun.

Chiu Bing-kun, President of the Chinese Taipei University Sports Federation, stated, "Seeing that many more countries and players have come to Taiwan to participate compared to the first edition in 2019 shows that badminton is indeed very popular. I welcome players to not only compete but also experience the beauty and food of Taipei, creating the best memories of the tournament."

Taiwan's emerging men's doubles pair, Cai Fucheng and Lai Boyou, are currently ranked 47th in the BWF world rankings. They recently won the Super 300 U.S. Open together last year. In the men's singles, "World Junior Gold Medalist" Guo Guanlin will also strive to keep the championship trophy in Taiwan.

The biggest highlight of the tournament is the addition of the "Mixed Team" event, which will feature three matches: men's singles, women's singles, and mixed doubles. Additionally, this year's Asian University Badminton Championships will introduce the 15-point scoring system. This is the first official international tournament in Taiwan to adopt the 15-point format.
