Rain Covers All of Taiwan; 9 Counties and Cities on Heavy Rain Alert, Mountainous Areas in Kaohsiung and Pingtung on Extreme Heavy Rain Alert

(Central News Agency, Taipei, June 9) The Central Weather Administration issued a heavy rain advisory. Due to the influence of a stationary front and southwest winds, short-duration, intense rainfall is likely. Today, there is a risk of localized heavy rain or extreme heavy rain in the mountainous areas of Kaohsiung City and Pingtung County.

The Central Weather Administration also indicated that localized heavy rain or extremely heavy rain is possible in the mountainous areas of Miaoli County, Taichung City, Nantou County, as well as in Yunlin County, Chiayi County, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, Pingtung County, and the mountainous areas of Taitung County. Other areas and Penghu have a probability of localized heavy rain.

The weather bureau reminds the public to be cautious of lightning and strong gusts. In mountainous areas, beware of landslides, rockfalls, debris flows, and rising river levels. In low-lying areas, beware of waterlogging and flooding. (Editor: Chen Yanjun) 1150609
