Due to an approaching front, strengthening southwesterly winds, and the development of afternoon convective cloud systems, localized heavy rain is expected across 16 counties and cities in Taiwan, with the advisory expected to last until evening.

The approaching front, strengthening southwesterly winds, and the development of afternoon convective cloud systems are conducive to short-duration, intense rainfall. Today, localized heavy rain is expected in areas south of Yunlin County and in Matsu. In the afternoon, localized heavy rain is expected in areas north of Taoyuan, the northeastern region, and the mountainous areas of Hsinchu, Miaoli, Taichung, and Nantou.

The weather agency reminds the public to be cautious of lightning and strong gusts. In mountainous areas, beware of landslides and falling rocks. In low-lying areas, beware of flooding.

The areas under the heavy rain advisory include Keelung City, the North Coast, Taipei City, New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, mountainous areas of Hsinchu County, mountainous areas of Miaoli County, mountainous areas of Taichung City, mountainous areas of Nantou County, Yunlin County, Chiayi City, Chiayi County, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, Pingtung County, the Hengchun Peninsula, Yilan County, and the Matsu area.
