(Central News Agency, reporter Li Huiting, Pingtung County, 8th) A man surnamed Chen from Pingtung County rode a motorcycle after using heroin and amphetamine. Police officers discovered he was a wanted fugitive during a stop and seized various drugs. The Pingtung District Prosecutors Office, believing there was a risk of repeated offenses, requested his detention from the Pingtung District Court on the 5th, which was approved.

According to a press release from the Pingtung District Prosecutors Office on the 8th, the 43-year-old man, surnamed Chen, was wanted for a hit-and-run traffic accident. After using first-level narcotic heroin and second-level narcotic amphetamine at his residence in Donggang Township, he rode his motorcycle at around 8 PM on the 4th. While traveling on Section 1 of Zhongzheng Road, he was spotted by police as a wanted fugitive and stopped.

Police officers on the scene seized 2 small packets of first-level narcotic heroin, 2 small packets of second-level narcotic methamphetamine, 4 etomidate vape pods, as well as injection syringes, glass bulb smoking devices, heaters, and other drug paraphernalia. He was immediately arrested and referred for prosecution.

The Pingtung District Prosecutors Office stated that after interrogation, the prosecutor found that Mr. Chen faced significant charges under the Criminal Code for inability to drive safely. Considering the variety and quantity of drugs and paraphernalia seized, and his history of continuous multi-drug use indicating a high dependency, there were sufficient facts to believe there was a risk of repeated offenses. The request for detention was submitted to the Pingtung District Court on the afternoon of the 5th and was approved. (Editor: Li Shuhua) 1150608
