(Central News Agency, reporter Wang Shufen, Taipei, 8th) The 2026 Asian Games will be held in September in Nagoya, Japan. Today, the Ministry of Agriculture reached a cooperation consensus with the Ministry of Sports to provide high-quality Taiwanese agricultural products, offering the most substantial support for the athletes' nutrition and physical strength.
The Ministry of Agriculture issued a press release stating that Minister of Sports Li Yang led representatives from the Ministry of Sports, the National Sports Training Center, and the Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee to visit the Ministry of Agriculture. They were received by Minister of Agriculture Chen Jun-ji and department heads. Both sides exchanged in-depth views on how to jointly support Taiwanese athletes during the Asian Games.
Chen Jun-ji stated that they will fully provide high-quality Taiwanese agricultural, fishery, and livestock products as a strong backing for the National Sports Training Center and the relay stations for Asian Games athletes, offering the most substantial support for the athletes' nutrition and physical strength.
Chen Jun-ji said that balanced and high-quality nutritional supplementation is key to maintaining peak condition during long-term rigorous training and high-intensity competitions. To provide Taiwanese athletes competing in Nagoya with a home-away-from-home experience and ensure they eat familiar and safe food, the Ministry of Agriculture will provide abundant Taiwanese vegetables, fresh fruits, and high-quality aquatic and livestock products and their processed goods based on the needs of the National Sports Training Center and the Asian Games relay stations.
Li Yang thanked the Ministry of Agriculture for its support. He said that familiar hometown flavors and top-tier nutritional supplements are the best logistics to alleviate athletes' stress from competing abroad and enhance their physical fitness and combat effectiveness.
In addition to cooperating for the Nagoya Asian Games, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Sports also reached a consensus to normalize the cooperation mechanism. In the future, they will jointly market Taiwanese sports and agriculture, showcasing Taiwan's athletic strength and increasing the visibility of domestic agricultural products.
