(Central News Agency, Reporter Cai Mengyu, Kaohsiung, 8th) As the threat of heavy rain escalates, the Kaohsiung City Government announced at noon today that it would upgrade its flood emergency response center from Expanded Level 3 to Level 2, with the Water Resources Bureau, Fire Bureau, and related agencies stationed to respond and deploy various flood prevention preparations in advance.

According to a press release from the Kaohsiung City Water Resources Bureau today, the Central Weather Administration predicts that from the 9th to the 10th, due to the influence of a stationary front and southwestern airflow, various areas in Kaohsiung City are prone to short-duration heavy rainfall, with accumulated rainfall in mountainous areas potentially reaching over 350 millimeters in 24 hours.

To address the threat of heavy rain, the Kaohsiung City Government upgraded the flood emergency response center from Expanded Level 3 to Level 2 at noon, with the Water Resources Bureau, Fire Bureau, and related agencies stationed to respond, fully monitoring changes in rainfall, water levels, and disaster conditions, and deploying various flood prevention preparations in advance.

The Water Resources Bureau stated that according to the latest forecast data from the Central Weather Administration, local heavy rain or torrential rain may occur during this rainfall period, with particularly high rainfall intensity in mountainous areas. All city disaster prevention units have completed relevant preparations and continue to strengthen monitoring of flood-prone areas, drainage systems, and the operation of key flood control facilities to mitigate the potential impact of heavy rain.

The Water Resources Bureau reminded that the weather will be unstable in the coming days and urged citizens to closely monitor the latest weather information from the Central Weather Administration and disaster prevention messages issued by the city government, inspect drainage facilities and waterproof equipment around their homes in advance, avoid dangerous areas such as rivers, seasides, and mountainous regions, and cooperate with various disaster prevention measures.
