(Central News Agency reporter Cai Zhiming, Chiayi County, 8th) The Chiayi County Spring Alishan High Mountain Premium Tea Awards Ceremony was held today. Judges pointed out that although a severe drought at the beginning of the year damaged tea plants and affected harvesting, tea masters responded flexibly and adjusted spring tea production techniques in a timely manner, still producing top-grade Alishan high mountain tea.

The "115th Chiayi County Spring Alishan High Mountain Premium Tea Competition" was co-organized by the Chiayi County Alishan Tea Industry Association, the Chiayi County Federation of Trade Unions, and the National Federation of Tea Manufacturing Industry Unions of the Republic of China, and hosted by the Chiayi County Tea Manufacturing Industry Trade Union. The awards ceremony and tasting event were held this morning, with County Magistrate Weng Chang-liang attending to present the awards.

The competition brought together tea-making experts and industry elites from various tea regions in Chiayi County to compete for the highest honor of the year's spring tea. Yang Xiaoying, an Associate Researcher from the Tea and Beverage Crops Improvement Station of the Ministry of Agriculture, who served as a judge, stated that this year's competition was divided into three categories: Yunxiang Oolong, Qingxin Oolong, and Jinxuan. Despite the impact of the drought, the award-winning teas maintained their standard, exhibiting their应有的 aroma and taste.

Magistrate Weng stated that many organizations in Chiayi County hold premium tea competitions, among which the Chiayi County Tea Manufacturing Trade Union has accumulated over 30 years of rich experience, successfully forging its own unique characteristics and position. For example, the specially established "Yunxiang Oolong Category" in the competition is a brand they are currently promoting.

Additionally, the Tea Improvement Station produced TAGs reports (Taiwan Tea Classification and Grading System Evaluation Report) for the winners this time, scoring based on taste, aroma, liquor color, and appearance. Through this digital presentation, tea drinkers can better understand the characteristics of the tea leaves.

The Alishan Tea Industry Association announced that in the 115th Spring Alishan High Mountain Premium Tea Evaluation, the Special Prize for the "Qingxin Oolong Category" was won by Xu Mingfeng of Emei Tea Estate. The First Prize winners included Li Shaofu of Xiandai Tea Industry, Jian Xiuchen of Xietai Tea Industry, and Lin Shuyuan of Gaodi Garden Tea Industry.
