IC design house ELAN Microelectronics (ELAN) announced on the 8th a strategic partnership with US-based PETA Optronics to jointly target the growing integrated optical communication chip market.
During its investor conference held on the same day, ELAN announced the strategic cooperation with PETA Optronics. The partnership combines PETA Optronics' technological advantages in photonic integrated circuits (PIC) with ELAN's strengths in electronic integrated circuits (EIC) to co-develop next-generation optoelectronic integrated solutions for the rapidly growing optical communications market.
ELAN stated that to deepen the long-term cooperative relationship and accelerate the R&D and commercialization of silicon photonics technology, it has invested in PETA Optronics, becoming a significant corporate shareholder.
ELAN Chairman Yeh Yi-hao said that through this collaboration, ELAN is entering the advanced silicon photonics semiconductor field, targeting the AI server and high-speed data center markets, which will inject new momentum into its operational growth.
ELAN expects its second-quarter revenue to be between NT$3.2 billion and NT$3.4 billion, an increase of about 2% from the first quarter. Gross margin is forecast to be between 46.5% and 49.5%, slightly up from 47.7% in the first quarter.
