(Central News Agency, reporter Wu Zhehao, Changhua, 8th) A man surnamed Shih, while driving under the influence of drugs, hit and injured Chen Guoming, the director of the Puyan Police Station under the Changhua County Police Department's Xihu Branch. The Taiwan Changhua District Prosecutors Office's request to the Taiwan Changhua District Court for his detention was rejected. The Changhua District Prosecutors Office stated today that it has filed an appeal with the Taiwan High Court Taichung Branch Court.

The Xihu Branch stated that on the 4th, while police were conducting an inquiry with the man surnamed Shih on Guangming Road Section 2 in Puyan Township, Changhua, the man drove his car into a dead-end alley and refused to be questioned. He then suddenly reversed his car, ramming into the officers in an attempt to escape, causing Chen Guoming to suffer injuries to both legs. The man was arrested and tested positive for drugs.

After questioning, the prosecutor from the Changhua District Prosecutors Office believed the man was involved in crimes including obstruction of official duties and endangering public safety, and requested his detention from the Changhua District Court, which was rejected.

The prosecution told a Central News Agency reporter in the afternoon that an appeal has been filed, but the reasons for the appeal are part of the investigation and cannot be disclosed. (Editor: Li Mingzong) 1150608
