(Central News Agency, reporter Cai Zhiming, Chiayi County, 8th) Due to the influence of a stationary front, which is prone to short-duration heavy rainfall, the Alishan Forest Railway and Cultural Heritage Office under the Ministry of Agriculture's Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency announced today that the Alishan Forest Railway will be precautionarily suspended tomorrow and the day after to maintain operational safety.
The Alishan Forest Railway Office issued a press release today stating that, according to forecast data from the Central Weather Administration, on June 9 and 10, the stationary front and southwest air currents will cause unstable atmospheric conditions, which may lead to convective development and short-duration heavy rainfall. There is a probability of localized torrential rain or above in the mountainous areas of central and southern Taiwan.
To ensure operational safety, the regular train departing from Alishan to Chiayi at 11:50 AM on June 9 will remain in normal operation. However, all other trains on the main line (Chiayi-Alishan section) and the three branch lines (Zhushan, Zhaoping, and Shenmu) within the Alishan National Forest Recreation Area will be precautionarily suspended. On June 10, the entire line will be precautionarily suspended.
Depending on weather conditions, the railway will conduct route inspections to confirm safety before announcing the resumption of service. Passengers who have already purchased tickets can receive a full refund within one year from the travel date by presenting their tickets at any Alishan Forest Railway station or at any 7-Eleven IBON kiosk nationwide.
