(Central News Agency, Pingtung County, June 8) The Pingtung County Government announced tonight that eight townships—Wutai, Sandimen, Machia, Laiyi, Taiwu, Chunri, Shihzih, and Mudan—have met the 24-hour accumulated rainfall threshold for suspending work and classes. These eight townships will suspend work and classes tomorrow.

According to the Pingtung County Government, due to the influence of a stalled front and southwestern winds, the 24-hour accumulated rainfall in the mountainous areas of Pingtung County tomorrow will reach the closure standard, posing a risk of disaster. To ensure the safety of residents and prepare relevant response measures, work and classes will be suspended tomorrow in the eight townships of Wutai, Sandimen, Machia, Laiyi, Taiwu, Chunri, Shihzih, and Mudan.
