On May 30, Mr. Jiang was driving a small truck carrying gas cylinders when he lost control and crashed into a parked car, nearly hitting people attending a nearby temple festival. After his arrest, drug use was discovered. The Taiwan Changhua District Prosecutors Office requested detention from the Taiwan Changhua District Court, but the request was rejected, leading to an appeal. The Taiwan High Court Taichung Branch Court overturned the original ruling.
The Changhua District Prosecutors Office issued a press release at noon on the 8th, stating that the Changhua District Court had reopened the detention hearing, with prosecutors from the office attending. The court subsequently approved preventive detention.
Furthermore, regarding the incident where Chen Guoming, the director of the Puyan Police Station, Xihu Branch, Changhua County Police Bureau, was injured in a drug-impaired driving incident by a man surnamed Shi, Interior Minister Liu Shih-fang earlier visited Chen Guoming at the Changhua Christian Hospital.
Upon learning that Chen Guoming is a devotee of Baishatun Mazu, Minister Liu prepared an embroidered model of the "Pink Supercar" symbolizing Mazu's palanquin and a慰问金 (condolence payment), wishing Chen Guoming a speedy recovery.
