(Central News Agency, reporter Zhang Jianzhong, Taipei, June 8) Memory makers Macronix and ADATA both saw their May revenues climb simultaneously. Macronix's May revenue reached NT$6.256 billion, setting a new historical high. ADATA's May revenue approached NT$13 billion, also hitting a record high.
Macronix's self-calculated May revenue was NT$6.256 billion, up 5.8% month-over-month and 175.8% year-over-year. Cumulative revenue for the first five months was NT$22.637 billion, a record high for the same period, up 110.9% from the previous year.
Macronix stated that increased market demand was the main driver behind the revenue surge. Macronix previously expected NAND Flash business performance in the second quarter to grow significantly, and the current supply-demand gap is very large, with product prices expected to continue rising in the second half of the year.
ADATA's self-calculated May revenue was NT$12.94 billion, up over 20% month-over-month and more than double year-over-year. Among this, solid-state drive (SSD) monthly product revenue reached NT$4.73 billion, another record high, up 47% month-over-month. ADATA's cumulative revenue for the first five months was NT$49.61 billion, up 175.8% from the previous year.
ADATA Chairman Chen Li-Bai said that the continuous acceleration of AI data center construction is driving rapid growth in demand for high-capacity, high-bandwidth memory. He expects the global memory market to face supply shortages not only this year but also worsening next year. ADATA will continue to increase its inventory levels, aiming to raise inventory to over NT$50 billion in the third quarter.
Chen Li-Bai anticipates that due to limited global memory supply, subsequent contract prices for DRAM and NAND Flash will continue to rise, and revenue should grow quarter by quarter. (Editor: Yang Lanxuan) 1150608
