(Central News Agency, reporter Lu Gangjun, Hsinchu City, 8th) The Hsinchu City Government stated today that, in response to the declining birth rate, it is planning to launch the 'Good Pregnancy Subsidy' program in 2027. Each pregnant woman will be eligible for a maximum subsidy of NT$20,000. Additionally, the childbirth allowance will be increased from the current NT$30,000 per child to NT$60,000 per child, aiming to create a friendly environment for childbirth and child-rearing.

Hsinchu City Mayor Ann Kao, responding to a question from Kuomintang city councilor Chen Ching-ling at the Hsinchu City Council today, said that since taking office, she has promoted the 'Wishing You a Good Pregnancy Trilogy,' increased childbirth allowances, expanded childcare service capacity, and promoted various childcare support measures. This new 'Good Pregnancy Subsidy' and the increase in childbirth allowances are intended to provide more comprehensive care and support.

Mayor Kao emphasized that the currently planned 'Good Pregnancy Subsidy' program will provide each pregnant woman with a subsidy of NT$14,000, covering expenses for clothing, prenatal nutrition, breastfeeding supplies, and infant and toddler items needed during pregnancy and postpartum. Combined with the existing 'Good Pregnancy Special Car' transportation subsidy of NT$6,000, the total subsidy can reach NT$20,000.

Mayor Kao stated that after a comprehensive evaluation of Hsinchu City's population development needs and financial conditions, it has been decided at an internal city government meeting to increase the childbirth allowance from the current NT$30,000 per child to NT$60,000 per child in fiscal year 2027. The goal is to provide comprehensive support from pregnancy, postpartum, to childcare, helping young families reduce the pressure of raising children. (Editor: Lin Shuhui) 1150608
