(Central News Agency, reporter Wang Hongguo, New Taipei City, 8th) The Kuomintang (KMT) caucus in the New Taipei City Council today released a mayoral election poll. KMT candidate Lee Sze-chuan's approval rating leads DPP candidate Su Chiao-hui by 6.2 percentage points. Su responded that she will look at the trends of various polls to determine where she needs to improve.

KMT New Taipei City Council caucus Secretary-General Chen Yi-chun, caucus think tank convener Huang Hsin-hua, and city councilors Chiang Yi-chen and Chen Wei-chieh held a press conference today to announce the mayoral election poll.

Chen Yi-chun stated that the caucus think tank commissioned the TVBS Poll Center to conduct the survey. Lee Sze-chuan's support was 39.2%, Su Chiao-hui's was 33.0%, with Lee leading by 6.2 percentage points, exceeding the ±3% sampling error margin.

Huang Hsin-hua pointed out that when compared cross-referentially with a poll conducted under the KMT-TPP cooperation at the end of April, both polls show Lee Sze-chuan's lead exceeding 6 percentage points. This highlights that Lee's overall lead has been quite stable since he entered the race, without significant fluctuations due to the intensifying campaign.

Chiang Yi-chen stated that regarding candidate favorability, Lee Sze-chuan averaged 5.85 points, higher than Su Chiao-hui's 5.24 points. In terms of perceived likelihood of winning, Lee led with 39.4% compared to Su's 27.9%. Chen Wei-chieh stated that cross-analysis by education level showed Lee Sze-chuan leading across all educational levels from high school and above.

The caucus stated that the poll used random sampling of the last two digits of landline phone numbers, conducted from June 2nd to 6th. The target respondents were residents aged 20 and above registered in New Taipei City. A total of 1,073 valid samples were completed, with a sampling error of ±3.0 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.

In response, Su Chiao-hui said, "We will look at the trends of various polls to determine where we need to improve. We'll take the good parts as encouragement and continue to work hard on the areas that are lacking." She added that her team will continue to announce policies to encourage more New Taipei City residents to join her in ushering in a new era for New Taipei.

Lee Sze-chuan's campaign office stated that the poll released by the KMT New Taipei City Council caucus think tank was conducted by a third-party polling unit with long-standing credibility. Compared to polls "self-conducted" and released by the Su Chiao-hui camp through specific media outlets, the credibility gap is clear, and the public has their own judgment.

New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih also commented on the poll results released by the caucus, saying that he has seen Lee Sze-chuan's policies continuously gaining affirmation from citizens. He expressed hope that Lee will continue to work hard, believing that citizens have very high expectations for him. He also looks forward to fighting side-by-side to ensure a smooth transition and succession for New Taipei City. (Editor: Lin Shu-hui) 1150708
