(Central News Agency, reporter Zeng Renkai, Taipei, 8th) Taiwan's stock market experienced a "Black Monday" today, with the early session plunging nearly 2,700 points, the largest intraday drop in history. However, instead of being scared off, investors "bought the dip," choosing market-cap or active ETFs to enter the market at lower prices. Popular market-cap ETFs Yuanta Taiwan 50 (0050) and Yuanta Taiwan 50 Bull 2x (00631L) each saw trading value exceed NT$200 billion today, ranking first and second among Taiwan-listed ETFs by trading value.
The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index in the U.S. plummeted over 10% last Friday, causing Taiwan stock index futures to plunge over 3,000 points in overnight trading. Taiwan's stock market opened under heavy selling pressure today, falling a maximum of 2,694 points. Many investors chose to enter the market through market-cap ETFs at the lower levels.
According to today's trading volume ranking on the Taiwan Stock Exchange, the top five spots were all occupied by market-cap or active ETFs: Yuanta Taiwan 50 Bull 2x, active fund Uni-President Upgrade 50 (00403A), active fund Uni-President Taiwan Growth (00981A), KGI Taiwan TOP50 (009816), and Yuanta Taiwan 50.
Among them, the 2x leveraged Yuanta Taiwan 50 Bull 2x saw massive trading volume of approximately 724,499 lots today, making it the single stock with the highest trading volume on the Taiwan Stock Exchange. It closed down NT$2.87 or 7.83% at NT$33.8. The trading value for Yuanta Taiwan 50 Bull 2x today was approximately NT$24.366 billion, ranking second among Taiwan ETFs by trading value, second only to Yuanta Taiwan 50.
Yuanta Taiwan 50 briefly fell below the NT$100 mark in early trading, but buying interest at lower levels quickly emerged. 0050's trading volume surged to 319,700 lots today, the highest in nearly three months, ranking fifth in overall Taiwan stock market trading volume. It closed down NT$3.2 or 3.07% at NT$100.95, recovering above the NT$100 mark.
Today's trading value for 0050 was approximately NT$31.999 billion, ranking fifth among all listed securities on the Taiwan Stock Exchange, behind only TSMC, MediaTek, UMC, and Nanya Technology. It ranked first among Taiwan ETFs by trading value.
Yuanta Securities Investment Trust announced this morning that 0050's latest beneficiary count reached 3.008 million people, officially surpassing the 3 million mark. This solidifies its position as the dual champion in both asset size and beneficiary count among Taiwan ETFs. Based on the current approximately 14.3 million trading accounts in Taiwan, this means more than one-fifth of Taiwan's stock investors hold 0050. (Editor: Zhang Liangzhi) 1150608
