(Central News Agency, reporter Wang Zhaoyu, Yilan, 8th) The only access road to Matcha Mountain in Jiaoxi Township, Yilan County, will be closed for construction starting June 10 for disaster restoration work following heavy rain damage last year. The Yilan County Government has received a subsidy of over NT$3 million from the Public Construction Commission of the Executive Yuan. The project includes slope protection works, retaining wall repairs, road surface restoration, and the installation of drainage culverts. Construction is scheduled to begin on June 10 and is expected to be completed by November 6. The County Government's Department of Agriculture stated that after construction begins, the road will be closed at the Catholic Wufengqi Holy Mother Pilgrimage Site at the 1-kilometer mark. Notices will be placed at three locations, including the parking lot at the foot of the mountain and major intersections. Hikers can reach the pilgrimage site, but the road beyond leading to Matcha Mountain will be off-limits. The county government will urge the contractor to expedite work and will announce an early lifting of the closure if possible. (Editor: Lin Shuhui) 1150608
