(Central News Agency reporter Wu Ruiqi, Taoyuan Airport, 8th) The Aviation Police Bureau of the National Police Agency held a Police Day celebration today. Bureau Director Lin Jianhong stated that in response to the upcoming operation of Taoyuan International Airport's Terminal 3, passenger and cargo volumes are bound to increase, leading to a surge in demands for airport security, traffic maintenance, and aviation safety and security inspection tasks. The associated workload will also increase. As the current establishment and manpower of the Aviation Police Bureau are insufficient to cope, the bureau plans to reorganize and establish a 'Taoyuan Precinct,' making an increase of 486 authorized personnel a substantive necessity and urgency. He also requested support from Taoyuan International Airport Corporation for the required office space.
Lin Jianhong pointed out that the Aviation Police Bureau plays a crucial role in maintaining aviation safety and in drug prevention and interception at domestic airports. He hopes to continuously strengthen aviation security and border drug enforcement capabilities, while also actively preventing and handling key tasks such as fraud prevention, blocking citizens from seeking fraudulent jobs overseas, and human trafficking.
Jiang Songhua, Chairman of the 'Republic of China International Aviation Police Friends Association,' donated NT$700,000 as consolation money for Police Day and the Dragon Boat Festival, in addition to NT$500,000 as work and case-solving consolation money for officers. He stated that the duties of aviation police at the national gateway are heavy, and their performance in preventing drugs, fraud, and various investigative tasks is evident. He is happy to support police work through action.
The Police Day celebration also included the promotion ceremony for officers, and awards were presented to Criminal Brigade Squad Leader Ke Hongxian, Security Inspection Brigade Officer Chen Shanyuan, and Kaohsiung Precinct Detective Li Jiaqing. Long-service police medals and retirement commemorative plaques were also awarded. Additionally, officers were called upon to donate blood, resulting in over 140 bags collected, demonstrating that while officers stand guard to protect the public, they can also actively participate in public welfare and spread love through their blood donation.
