Heavy Rain Warning for Chiayi and Other Areas; Extremely Heavy Rain Alert for Mountains in Kaohsiung and Pingtung

(CNA, Taipei, 8th) The Central Weather Administration has issued a heavy rain warning. Starting tonight, localized heavy or torrential rain is expected in the areas of Chiayi County, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, and Pingtung County. There is also a chance of localized heavy rain in Chiayi City and Matsu. From early tomorrow morning, localized torrential or extremely heavy rain is expected in the mountainous areas of Kaohsiung City and Pingtung County.

There is also a chance of localized heavy or torrential rain in the mountainous areas of Miaoli County, Taichung City, Nantou County, Yunlin County, and Taitung County. Other regions and Penghu may experience localized heavy rain.

The administration reminds the public to be aware of lightning strikes and strong gusts, and to be cautious of landslides, rockfalls, and flash floods in mountainous areas, and to guard against flooding and inundation in low-lying areas.
