(Central News Agency, Taipei, June 8) Taiwan's stock market suffered a 'Black Monday' today, plunging 2,694 points at the open, setting a record for the biggest intraday drop. It closed down 1,568.16 points, marking the third-largest closing point drop in history. According to statistics, the outstanding margin loan balance on the Taiwan stock exchange stood at NT$551.012 billion, a decrease of NT$15.636 billion.

Chen Yi-kuang, Chairman of Fubon Investment Consulting, believes that since the margin balance surged to NT$566.6 billion the previous day, a high level, this correction needs to reduce margin trading by at least 10% to 15%, meaning a decrease of approximately NT$50 billion to NT$80 billion.
