(CNA, New Taipei, 8th) New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih, presiding over a Police Day celebration today, stated that the police department will move into the Second Administrative Center located in Sanchong District to build a decision-making system with AI assistance and big data integration, providing comprehensive protection to citizens through technology and systemization.
The New Taipei City Government Police Department held the "48th Police Day Celebration" today, where Mayor Hou attended to present awards to model police officers, forensic role models, and senior outstanding personnel, as well as to inspect newly purchased police cars and motorcycles.
Mayor Hou expressed that protecting the safety of police officers is key to maintaining New Taipei's public order. He noted that New Taipei has a high police-to-citizen ratio and a diverse urban-rural environment, making the challenges faced by the police even more formidable. He highlighted that recent incidents of drug-impaired driving have severely threatened the safety of road users and increased the risks for officers.
He stated that to enhance the safety and mobility of police on duty, the city government has allocated nearly NT$500 million for the years 114 and 115 (2025 and 2026) to purchase 380 cars and 1,289 motorcycles, accelerating the replacement of old and over-age police vehicles as a concrete action to support the police force.
Mayor Hou announced that the police department will move into the New Taipei City Government's Second Administrative Center by the end of the year. This will allow the public security command center to be combined with the traffic control center, food safety monitoring center, and disaster response center to create a decision-making system with AI assistance and big data integration, offering comprehensive protection to citizens through technology and systemization.
Mayor Hou added that the city government will continue to strengthen cross-domain collaboration through the "Fraud Prevention Office," "Drug Interdiction and Source Tracing Center," and "Technology Crime Investigation Team" to build solid energy for combating crime. (Editor: Lin Shu-hui) 1150608
