(Central News Agency, reporter Li Jianzhong, Taipei, 7th) The Red Bull BC One Taiwan Finals concluded last night. After hours of intense competition, B-Boy Lian (Chen Jian-yan) and B-Girl Sophia (Hsu Fu-ya) emerged victorious. They will represent Taiwan in the final bid for a spot at the World Final, to be held in Toronto, Canada, on November 29.
The B-Girl category brought together top breakdancers from recent years, along with several newcomers making their debut at the Red Bull BC One Taiwan Finals, resulting in many high-tension battles. The final was a rematch of last year's championship, with defending champion B-Girl Sophia (Hsu Fu-ya) facing off against B-Girl Stitch (Yang Cai-hua).
Ultimately, B-Girl Sophia secured her second consecutive title with highly fluid footwork that perfectly showcased musicality and explosive power. After the match, she said, "This year, I hoped to enjoy the competition more and stably and completely present what I wanted to express on stage."
The B-Boy competition was even more thrilling, with the final pitting 2024 champion B-Boy Jasper (Wu Ding-jie) against last year's runner-up, B-Boy Lian (Chen Jian-yan).
Known for his high-difficulty moves, B-Boy Lian continued to display astonishing body control in the final. His "reverse hand air chair" perfectly matched the music's beat, igniting cheers from the crowd and bringing the atmosphere to its peak, securing his victory.
Chen Jian-yan admitted he was "really tired," but said the emotions that surged upon winning were hard to describe in words. He thanked his family, friends, and fans for their support. Regarding the upcoming World Final in Toronto, he humbly stated, "I will do my best!"
Sun Zhen, a national team breaker who represented Taiwan at the Paris Olympics, served as a judge for the competition and performed a short, exquisite dance routine to warm up for the Nagoya Asian Games in September.
Sun Zhen revealed that his preparation is going well. With more international competition experience accumulated in recent years, he hopes to challenge Asia's top dancers with a more mature attitude and aims to surpass his previous quarterfinal finish, striving to stand on the podium.
