Kaohsiung City Council Delegation Visits Brisbane, TSMC Becomes a Key Topic

(Central News Agency, Reporter Tsai Meng-yu, Kaohsiung, 7th) Kaohsiung City Council Deputy Speaker Tseng Chun-chieh led a cross-party delegation of councilors to visit Brisbane, Australia, on the 6th, showcasing the sister city bond. He stated that with TSMC's investment and factory establishment in Kaohsiung, the city has transformed into a technology and smart city, and 'welcomed everyone to return to Taiwan and invest in Kaohsiung.'

Deputy Speaker Tseng led 12 cross-party councilors, including Chiang Jui-hung, Chiu Yu-hsuan, Lin Chih-hung, Lin Chih-cheng, and Li Ya-fen, on the visit to Brisbane. Local political, business, and overseas community figures hosted a 30-table banquet to welcome the delegation. Brisbane City Council Deputy Speaker Huang Wen-yi, who is of Taiwanese descent, greeted Tseng, who had previously studied in Brisbane, with 'Welcome home.'

Tseng praised Huang Wen-yi, who was born in Taiwan, for setting a record for Chinese-Australian political participation. They have agreed to meet again in Kaohsiung next year for the 30th anniversary of the sister city twinning, working together to deepen the friendship between the two cities.

Brisbane is a city where many Taiwanese businesses in Australia are concentrated. Tseng lauded the solidarity and hard work of Taiwanese people in Australia. He also took the opportunity to market Kaohsiung, stating that after TSMC's investment, Kaohsiung has transformed into a technology and smart city, becoming one of the world's most worthwhile cities for investment. 'Welcome everyone to return to Taiwan and invest in Kaohsiung,' he said.

Tseng further noted that next year marks the 30th anniversary of the Kaohsiung-Brisbane sister city relationship. Both cities have transformed from traditional industrial centers into hubs of technological innovation. He expressed hope for continued deepening of cooperation in areas such as economic and trade investment, technology industries, culture and education, and tourism development, writing a new chapter of exchange together.

Huang Wen-yi said that Kaohsiung has achieved remarkable results in recent years in industrial development, urban construction, and quality of life improvements. He was particularly impressed by the city's transformation driven by TSMC's presence and looked forward to continued expansion of exchanges and investment cooperation between the two sides.
