(Central News Agency, Reporter Tsai Meng-yu, Kaohsiung, 7th) Affected by a low-pressure belt, stationary front, and southwesterly winds, the Kaohsiung area is expected to see a clear increase in rainfall over the next week. The city's Water Resources Bureau announced today that it has fully activated flood prevention preparations, including completing preparations and functional tests for all 100 pumping stations and 26 detention basins across the city, standing ready to respond.

The Water Resources Bureau issued a press release today stating that due to the low-pressure belt, stationary front, and southwesterly winds, the rainfall trend in the Kaohsiung area will be significant over the next week. A front will approach and southwesterly winds will strengthen tomorrow. From the 9th to the 13th, due to the continued influence of the stationary front and southwesterly winds, rainfall will become even more pronounced, with the possibility of heavy rain or torrential rain in some areas.

The Bureau stated that in response to this heavy rain, flood response personnel have already been stationed early at the Water Information Center. They are using a smart water management monitoring system to monitor rainfall, road flooding sensors, regional drainage, and rainwater sewer water levels in real-time. If necessary, emergency response procedures will be initiated immediately to reduce the impact and disaster risks brought by heavy rainfall.

The Bureau explained that the city government has now completed city-wide flood prevention preparations. This includes all 100 pumping stations, 148 mobile pumps, and 26 detention basins, all of which have completed preparations and functional tests. Related flood prevention materials and response personnel are on standby, ensuring they can be immediately deployed for disaster prevention and response when heavy rain strikes.

The Bureau also reminded citizens to closely monitor the latest weather information from the Central Weather Administration and disaster prevention information issued by the city government. They should check drainage facilities and waterproofing equipment around their homes in advance, avoid dangerous areas such as rivers, beaches, and mountainous regions, and cooperate with relevant disaster prevention measures to jointly prepare for flood prevention.
