(CNA reporter Wang Hung-kuo, New Taipei, 7th) The two major parties' New Taipei City mayoral candidates, Lee Ssu-chuan and Su Chiao-hui, separately stumped for votes in Yonghe. Su Chiao-hui stated she would subsidize community clubs to improve their operations, while Lee Ssu-chuan said that upon election, he would cooperate with Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an to expedite the promotion of the MRT Zhonghe-Guangfu Line.

The DPP's New Taipei City mayoral candidate, Su Chiao-hui, visited the blue-camp stronghold of Yonghe this morning to attend the opening ceremony of a table tennis tournament for the Yonghe District Seniors' Association under Fuhe Bridge. The KMT's candidate, Lee Ssu-chuan, appeared shortly after, and the two shook hands and exchanged greetings. Accompanied by KMT legislator Lin Te-fu and others, Lee Ssu-chuan greeted the public one by one and even showed off his table tennis skills on the court, earning cheers for several smash hits.

Lee Ssu-chuan mentioned he started playing table tennis as a child and made the school team while studying at Taipei Institute of Technology. He also said he had personally ridden a scooter during work hours to observe traffic conditions on Shualang Bridge, Chenggong Road, and Fuhe Bridge, witnessing the peak-hour traffic firsthand and deeply feeling the urgency for the Zhonghe-Guangfu Line.

Lee Ssu-chuan stated that the Zhonghe-Guangfu Line is currently being actively advanced by both Taipei and New Taipei. If elected, he would maintain close cooperation with Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an to expedite its promotion, aiming to relieve commuter traffic in the Zhonghe and Yonghe areas through mass transit and enhance transportation convenience for citizens.

In her speech, Su Chiao-hui also expressed that if given the opportunity in the future, she would not only continue to support local community clubs but also improve the sports environment in various public spaces, so that citizens of all generations in New Taipei can live healthily and exercise happily. She emphasized that clubs are a crucial part and that restoring their subsidies would allow them to operate better.

When speaking to the media, Su Chiao-hui also addressed the issue of President Lai Ching-te misspeaking during a campaign event for her, mistaking the otter in her podcast channel "Mama Otter's Clever Words" for a sea otter. She commented that it's not just otters and sea otters that are often confused, but also beavers, but their common point is that they are all furry and cute.

She said that she sometimes finds it hard to tell them apart just by their noses and mouths. She added that when President Lai, or "Uncle Te," told a story on her show, the children were very surprised and said, "Uncle Te can tell stories too, and he's quite good at it!" She hopes everyone will listen to these storytelling programs often. (Editor: Chang Ming-kun) 1150607
