Key News on Russia's Invasion of Ukraine

(Central News Agency, London, 7th, Comprehensive Foreign News) The leaders of the United Kingdom, France, and Germany today met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in London and afterwards stated their support for his call for direct ceasefire negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.

According to AFP, Zelenskyy met today in London with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

In a joint statement, the three leaders and Zelenskyy said they "support the proposal for direct dialogue between Ukraine and Russia, with the active participation of the United States and Europe, to achieve a ceasefire and support further negotiations."

They also stated that "the current line of contact should serve as the starting point for negotiations" and that "international borders must not be changed by force."

On the 4th, Zelenskyy proposed face-to-face talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in an open letter.

He wrote: "Ukraine proposes ending this war through direct contact between us."
