(Central News Agency, Taipei, by reporter Huang Li-yun, 7th) The revised detailed plan for Shezi Island is scheduled to be sent to the Land Expropriation Panel of the Ministry of the Interior for review soon. Shen Bo-yang, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) candidate for Taipei Mayor, stated today (7th) that the 50-year history of construction ban on Shezi Island has been unfair to its residents, and measures such as the compensation plan should be re-examined and communication strengthened.

This morning, Shen Bo-yang canvassed for votes at the Shezi Market in Shilin District, followed by attending the opening ceremony of the 2026 21st Taipei Amateur Community Baseball League at the Shezi Baseball Field. He was accompanied by fellow party members and Taipei City Councilors Lin Se-tsung, Chen Hsien-wei, Chung Pei-ling, Chen Tzu-hui, and Lin Yen-feng.

Before the event, he addressed the Shezi Island issue in a media interview, acknowledging that while there have been good plans in the past, their acceptance by the residents is paramount, and communication must be enhanced. Secondly, he stated that the 50-year construction ban has been unfair to the residents. While urban development is viewed with a consistent standard across the city, when there is a history of injustice, aspects like the compensation plan must be re-examined to have a chance for progress when communicating with Shezi Island residents.

Lin Yen-feng also mentioned that the Taipei City Government will submit supplementary documents to the Ministry of the Interior by the end of June. The main controversy now is that certain settlements hope to be excluded from the land readjustment zone. She urged the city government to fulfill its responsibility to communicate and coordinate properly with representatives of these settlements, so there will be no disputes when the plan is sent to the Ministry, hoping the local land readjustment can proceed quickly.

When asked by the media about his sports policies, as his next stop was the Shezi Baseball Field, Shen Bo-yang opined that all sports and cultural developments need a grassroots foundation. He cited the music industry's need for small, medium, and large venues, noting Taiwan currently lacks medium-sized ones. He said sports are the same, requiring grassroots, amateur, and professional venues, and whether they can be used for multiple purposes determines the long-term cultivation of related talent.

Shen said that the Shezi Baseball Field has always been a success for grassroots baseball led by the private sector. To provide a place for grassroots and amateur baseball to develop, the primary goal is to solve problems like upgrading the facility and fixing leaks.

He mentioned that since people's favorite sports differ, it is difficult to substantially increase every type of venue. Therefore, it is necessary to think about how to achieve multi-purpose goals. Secondly, he noted a current myth about venues, citing hiking as an example of using a natural venue. Promoting and expanding the scope of such sports is equivalent to freeing up more sports venue space, creating a virtuous cycle.

When asked about the recent controversy over inadequate election support measures in South Korea's local elections, as Shen had previously opposed the KMT-TPP's absentee voting proposal and was praised by netizens for his 'divine prediction,' Shen Bo-yang stated that changes to the voting system cause many changes in administrative operations. He had previously warned everyone that if absentee voting resulted in too many ballots, it would cause difficulties for frontline election workers, and that potential fraud and the adequacy of supporting measures were points of concern.

As it was Shen Bo-yang's birthday today, the crowd sang 'Happy Birthday' as soon as he appeared. He shared his birthday wishes: for Taipei to become a city where one can live leisurely and dream bravely, and for everyone to be healthy. He kept his last wish a secret.

Regarding the fact that many politicians share the same birthday, with online discussions about three of them having served as mayors, Shen Bo-yang believed that both parties have many people with birthdays today, but the important thing is whether one has a good policy vision and ability, which is what matters most.
