(CNA, reporter Cheng Wei-chen, Changhua, 7th) The Democratic Progressive Party's (DPP) "Good Life in Taiwan" policy briefing was held in Changhua County today. Minister of Agriculture Chen Chun-chi stated that Changhua's first agricultural cold chain logistics center is expected to begin construction in September, providing services such as pre-cooling, cutting, and refrigerated/frozen storage, with a daily throughput of 50 metric tons.

The Changhua session of the DPP's "Good Life in Taiwan" 2026 county and city policy briefing was held this afternoon. DPP's Changhua County magistrate candidate Chen Su-yueh, Minister of Agriculture Chen Chun-chi, and Minister of Education Cheng Ying-yao took turns explaining to the county residents the central government's investment in Changhua's construction and their future administrative vision.

Chen Su-yueh stated that in addition to hardware facilities, policy direction and software enrichment are equally important for educational development. If elected county magistrate, she will promote diverse and characteristic teaching based on Taiwanese language and character education, strengthen students' civic and moral education and their identification with their homeland, establish a "one school, one security guard" policy, continue free school lunches, and set up a professional legal resource platform to build a more friendly and equitable campus environment.

Chen Su-yueh pointed out that during her tenure as a legislator, she secured funding for numerous construction projects, including the improvement of farmland irrigation and drainage. With the vision of "Accelerating Changhua," she hopes to create a better life for the citizens through future infrastructure upgrades.

Chen Chun-chi said that Changhua is an important agricultural county in Taiwan, and last year's typhoons caused significant losses for farmers. With the assistance of legislators like Chen Su-yueh, the Ministry of Agriculture proactively announced agricultural natural disaster relief and provided measures such as special project subsidies and one-year interest-free low-interest loans. To reduce the burden on farmers, the relief amount as a percentage of production costs was increased from 20% to 25%, and the cost calculation will be reviewed annually to adjust the subsidy amount in a timely manner.

Chen Chun-chi said the Ministry of Agriculture is building smart disaster-prevention facility-based agriculture and promised to include more facilities within the scope of subsidies. Additionally, to preserve agricultural products, Changhua County's first agricultural cold chain logistics center, located in Xizhou Township, is scheduled to begin construction in September and be completed in December of the 116th year of the Republic (2027). The total cost is NT$320 million, with the Ministry of Agriculture assisting with nearly 90% of it. It is planned to provide services such as pre-cooling, cutting, and refrigerated/frozen storage, with a daily throughput of 50 metric tons.

Cheng Ying-yao stated that in the past two years, the central government has continued to expand affordable early childhood education and care services in Changhua. Chen Su-yueh also successfully secured funding for the sports facilities of seven schools, the renewal of digital teaching equipment and waterproofing repairs for ten schools, and the construction of the Yongjing Township Library.
