Heavy Rain Warning for New Taipei and Yilan Mountains; Nantou and Other Areas on Alert

(Central News Agency, Taipei, June 7) The Central Weather Administration issued a heavy rain warning. Convective cloud systems are developing actively, increasing the likelihood of short-duration heavy rainfall. Today, local heavy rain or extremely heavy rain is expected in New Taipei City and the mountainous areas of Yilan County. There is also a probability of local heavy rain in northern, southern, Nantou, and Yilan areas, as well as in the mountainous regions of central Taiwan and Hualien.

The weather bureau reminds the public to be cautious of lightning and strong gusts of wind. In mountainous areas, be vigilant against landslides, falling rocks, and rapidly rising river levels. Low-lying areas should take precautions against flooding. (Editor: Guan Zhongwei) 1150607
