(Central News Agency, reporter Yu Xiaohan, Taipei, 7th) According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC), the average monthly total salary in the maritime shipping industry in 2025 was NT$138,446, ranking first for the sixth consecutive year. In terms of working hours, the public bus passenger transport industry had the longest total working hours at 199.7 hours, making it the most arduous industry.

The MOTC recently released the 2025 overview of production and employed persons in the transportation and warehousing industry.

According to the statistics, the number of employed persons in the transportation and warehousing industry in 2025 was 298,000. Among these, 'transportation support activities' and 'truck freight transportation' had the highest number of employees. Compared to 2024, the 'air transportation industry' saw the largest increase of 1,250 employees due to sustained growth in tourism demand, marking three consecutive years of growth.

In terms of salaries, the average monthly total salary per employee in the transportation and warehousing industry in 2025 was NT$67,793, an increase of NT$2,609 from 2024, setting a new historical high. Among these, the maritime shipping industry had the highest salary at NT$138,446, ranking first for six consecutive years, followed by the air transportation industry at NT$123,804.

The MOTC pointed out that except for the maritime shipping industry, which saw a decrease of NT$1,054 due to a decline in non-recurring salaries, total salaries in all other industries increased, with the air transportation industry seeing the largest increase of NT$6,753.

Bonuses also hit a new historical high. According to the statistics, the average monthly non-recurring salary per employee in the transportation and warehousing industry in 2025 was NT$16,580, an increase of NT$1,092 from the previous year.

Regarding working hours, the MOTC stated that the total working hours in the transportation and warehousing industry were 169.3 hours, 0.4 hours more than the overall industry and service sector. Among these, the public bus passenger transport industry had the longest total working hours at 199.7 hours, followed by the courier service industry at 188.0 hours.

Additionally, regarding the travel and related services industry, the MOTC indicated that the average monthly number of employed persons in 2025 was 27,099, about 86% of the 2019 level. However, due to the booming tourism market, the total salaries and non-recurring salaries of employees in this industry grew steadily, reaching NT$47,466 in 2025, the highest in ten years.
