(CNA reporter Yang Shu-min, Taipei, 7th) The Taipei City Office for Disaster Prevention and Management reminded the public today that according to the latest forecast from the Central Weather Administration, due to the influence of a low-pressure system and southwesterly winds, heavy rainfall at the level of a short-duration torrential downpour may occur in the afternoon over a 3-hour period. Those engaging in activities in mountainous and water areas must pay attention to real-time weather information.

The disaster office stated that today's heavy rainfall is expected to be concentrated between 1 PM and 5 PM, during which it may be accompanied by 5 to 6-level wind gusts.

Furthermore, the disaster office indicated that due to an approaching front tomorrow, the afternoon rainfall in the city is estimated to be heavier than today's. The 3-hour rainfall will reach the level of a short-duration torrential downpour, concentrated between 12 PM and 6 PM, and may be accompanied by 5 to 6-level wind gusts. The public is urged to use the holiday today to inspect whether ditches around their homes or communities are clear. If they are blocked by leaves or debris, they should be cleared early to reduce the occurrence of flooding. (Editor: Huang Ming-hsi) 1150607
