Su Chiao-hui and Lee Sze-chuan Vie for Support from Chiayi Natives in New Taipei, Propose Visions for Succession

(Central News Agency reporter Huang Xusheng, New Taipei, 6th) Democratic Progressive Party New Taipei mayoral candidate Su Chiao-hui and her Kuomintang opponent Lee Sze-chuan sought support today at an event for the New Taipei Chiayi Native Association. Lee hopes to take over and proposed the 'Lushe Bridge' policy, while Su proposed advancing construction on the existing foundation.

The 2nd General Meeting of the 12th Session of the New Taipei Chiayi Native Association was held at the Yi Pin Hotel in New Taipei's Xinzhuang District, with 100 tables set, creating a lively atmosphere.

Su Chiao-hui accompanied President Lai Ching-te into the venue and shared the stage with him. Strongly recommended by President Lai, Su expressed gratitude to New Taipei Mayor Hou Yu-ih, who is also from Chiayi, and the New Taipei City Government team for their eight years of continuous efforts in promoting infrastructure in New Taipei.

She said that municipal governance is a relay, and she sincerely thanked the Chiayi natives for their care and support. She stated that only through unity can they continue to gain the support of Chiayi natives and work together to make New Taipei better. She expressed hope for the opportunity to work with all fellow townspeople in the next four years to further promote city marketing and build a city brand.

After President Lai and Su Chiao-hui left the venue, Lee Sze-chuan, accompanied by New Taipei City Council Speaker Jiang Gen-huang, entered. Lee stated that under Hou Yu-ih's leadership, New Taipei has become one of the world's top 50 happiest cities. If elected, he will build the Lushe Bridge to strengthen transportation links between Taipei City's Shilin and Neihu districts and New Taipei's Luzhou, Xinzhuang, Wugu, and Tucheng districts.

He said the Lushe Bridge can create an artificial intelligence (AI) industry corridor. He vowed to fully take over from Hou Yu-ih, uphold the diligent work ethic of a child from the south, and lead New Taipei to continue moving forward. (Editor: Li Mingzong) 1150606
