(Washington, 5th, Comprehensive Foreign Report) Although the US and Israeli war against Iran has neared 100 days, a period longer than expected, US President Trump stated today that he believes the conflict is progressing rapidly, noting that the Vietnam War lasted 19 years while he has only been fighting for 3 months.
In an interview with NBC News recorded this afternoon, Trump said, "I move very fast. You know, I've been fighting for three months. The Vietnam War lasted 19 years, and I've only been at it for three months."
He stated, "And they just say, 'Wow, when are you going to win?' If I were a Democrat, no one would talk like this, but it doesn't matter to me, I'm used to it."
This segment was released in advance as a preview for the full interview scheduled to air on the 7th.
Trump has not yet reached even a preliminary agreement with Iran, and Tehran's launch of a drone into the Strait of Hormuz today has raised questions about whether Iran is genuinely interested in reaching a deal.
He pointed out, "This is a very tough thing for them. They have great independence, and frankly, they were previously dealing with very weak and incompetent leadership representing the United States and other countries."
In today's interview, Trump criticized those who urged him to reach a deal with Iran quickly to end the conflict, saying, "Doing these things takes years."
Referring to Iran's leadership, he said, "These people have been fighting for 47 years. They have been killing Americans... They took their legs and arms, their faces were so badly, so horribly injured."
Trump added that so far in the conflict, the US has "completely destroyed their military," but added that Iran still has some missiles and drones.
He said, "Most of the drone factories have been destroyed, most of the launch pads have been destroyed, and most of the missile manufacturing areas have been destroyed. But they still have capabilities. They have some missiles, they have some drones."
"I would say proportionally, they probably have 21%, 22% of their missiles left. That's still a lot of missiles, but it's not the number we had when we first started the attack." (Compiled by: Li Peishan) 1150606
