(CNA reporter Hao Hsueh-ching, Taichung, 6th) A rumored schedule for a Taichung police project cracking down on drugged and drunk driving has been circulating on online social media platforms. The Taichung City Government Police Department stated today that it will collect relevant evidence of illegal activities such as spreading false information and forging or altering documents, and will investigate and prosecute according to the law.
A purported schedule of the police department's special operations has been circulating on online community platforms, sparking concerns among netizens that it could allow opportunistic individuals to evade checks and weaken the effectiveness of police enforcement.
The Police Department stated in a press release that the circulated version is not an official document from the Police Department, nor does it match the format of any precinct, corps, or team, and is suspected to involve forgery, alteration of documents, or the dissemination of false information.
The Police Department said that after comparing with the actual duty planning data from the department's operational units (Traffic Police Corps and Security Section) and all precincts, the dates, days of the week, time slots, and items in the online version do not match the content of the department's duty rosters.
The Police Department stated that all duty information is controlled and kept confidential in accordance with regulations, and there has been absolutely no leak of operational secrets. It urged the public not to easily believe or forward unverified online information to avoid misleading the public. (Editor: Li Ming-tsung) 1150606
