(Central News Agency, Taipei, June 6) An incident occurred near Section 4, Zhongxiao East Road, Taipei this afternoon, where a signboard from a telecom operator fell and injured two people. The Taipei City Building Management Office stated that in response to the injuries caused by the falling signboard, a fine of NT$240,000 will be imposed on the operator in accordance with the Building Act.
Taipei's police and fire department received a report at 3:33 PM and dispatched personnel to the scene near Section 4, Zhongxiao East Road, Da'an District. They found that a signboard from a Taiwan Mobile store had fallen and struck pedestrians. The two injured individuals were both women.
Police stated that one of the injured women was in her 60s, conscious before being transported to the hospital, with a fractured right wrist. The other, approximately 90 years old, was also conscious before transport, with minor abrasions on her right arm. Three scooters at the scene also sustained minor damage. The exact cause of the incident is still under investigation.
The Taipei City Building Management Office stated in a text message that, in response to the signboard falling incident at the Taiwan Mobile store on Section 4, Zhongxiao East Road, Da'an District, it immediately dispatched a contractor to remove the fallen signboard and set up a safety zone with yellow caution tape.
