NVIDIA CEO Leaves Taiwan for South Korea: 'Doubled Production Capacity to Prepare for H2 and Next Year Growth'

(Central News Agency, Taipei, June 5, reporter Wu Chia-hao) Jensen Huang, CEO of AI chip giant NVIDIA, concluded his 14-day Taiwan itinerary today and departed for South Korea via private jet. In an interview at the airport, he revealed that NVIDIA has doubled its production capacity for the second half of this year, but the overall supply chain capacity remains extremely tight, requiring everyone to prepare for growth from the second half of this year into next year.

After arriving in Taiwan on May 23, Huang drew large crowds of fans wherever he went. After his two-week stay, he humorously remarked before leaving that "the whole of Taiwan has been on edge" during this time, and "everyone needs a rest," even joking that all the restaurants and night markets in Taiwan also need a break.

Huang emphasized that Taiwan plays a very important core AI role in this new computer revolution. As NVIDIA creates this new industry, trillions of dollars in computing demand will be generated in the coming years, and Taiwan is at the center.

Regarding his upcoming visit to South Korea, Huang stated that NVIDIA has very important and excellent partners in South Korea, and the main purpose of this trip is to thank everyone for their hard work during this period.

"Growth in the second half of next year will be much larger than this year, so everyone must be prepared," Huang revealed. He noted that NVIDIA has 120 supply chain partners in Taiwan. To meet strong demand, NVIDIA has doubled its production capacity for the second half of this year. The Grace Blackwell architecture products are still in mass production, and the latest Vera Rubin architecture products have also begun mass production.

As this is Huang's second visit to South Korea in eight months, there is external speculation about its connection to high-bandwidth memory (HBM) capacity. Huang admitted that due to extremely strong demand and NVIDIA's rapid growth, capacity across the entire supply chain, both upstream and downstream, is very tight.

He emphasized that NVIDIA's AI systems are highly integrated with memory, and NVIDIA is not only a chip designer but also one of the world's largest direct purchasers of memory.

When asked when he plans to return to Taiwan, he laughed and said he wants to come back as soon as possible, but jokingly added, "Taiwan needs a break now."
