Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim Shows Off MIT Snorkeling Gear, Set to Visit Rock Islands with Palau President

(Central News Agency, Taipei, June 5) Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim will launch the "Palau Honor Project" tomorrow, leading a delegation on a five-day visit to Taiwan's ally, Palau. The mission aims to deepen Taiwan-Palau ties, witness the results of the "Honor Project," and promote sustainable tourism in Palau. On the eve of her departure, the Vice President posted on Instagram, showing off a full set of "Made in Taiwan" snorkeling gear, including shoes, a mask, an island shirt, and a traditional Taiwanese 'Qie Zhi' bag. She stated that MIT is a guarantee of quality and expressed hope for a smooth trip to further strengthen bilateral relations.

Palau, known as "God's aquarium," is a paradise for diving enthusiasts. As the summer tourism season approaches, Vice President Hsiao's visit includes the task of personally introducing Palau's scenic beauty to the public. She aims to achieve three core objectives set by President Lai Ching-te: first, deepening bilateral friendship; second, assisting Palau in promoting sustainable tourism; and third, witnessing the results of the Taiwan-Palau "Honor Project."

This visit follows President Lai's trip to Eswatini in May, demonstrating the determination to safeguard Taiwan's international presence. The tourism industry is a top priority for Palau's national development.

According to sources, President Surangel S. Whipps, Jr. personally planned the itinerary. He will lead Vice President Hsiao and the delegation by boat to the famous Rock Islands, where they will engage in kayaking and snorkeling together.
