(Central News Agency, Taipei, June 5) Research firm TrendForce today released panel price quotes for the first half of June. As promotional stockpiling for the 618 shopping festival and the World Cup gradually winds down, TV panel demand has begun to slow, and TV panel prices are expected to remain flat in June.
TrendForce Research Vice President Boyu Fan stated that most panel makers have sensed a loosening in TV panel demand and have begun adjusting production schedules and shipment plans in advance, focusing more on the production and shipment of large-size panels to maintain supply-demand stability.
Fan pointed out that in June, demand for LCD monitor panels has shown signs of decline as the momentum for advance stockpiling gradually slows. Coupled with the fact that TV panel price trends have turned flat, panel makers are finding it increasingly difficult to maintain across-the-board price increases or sustain the gains seen in previous months. It is unlikely to see a full-scale price increase across all sizes. He estimates that in June, monitor panel prices for the 23.8-inch FHD will increase by US$0.2, and the 27-inch FHD by US$0.1, while all other sizes and specifications will remain flat.
Entering June, with the arrival of central processing units (CPUs), brand customers have strengthened their demand for notebook panels, and demand in June remains at a stable level. However, panel makers must consider maintaining relationships with brand customers and are concerned about the risk of declining demand in the second half of the year. To maintain stable shipment momentum, they are adopting a more cautious pricing strategy. It is estimated that notebook panel prices will remain flat across the board in June.
