(Central News Agency, Yilan County, 5th) A man surnamed Wu in Yilan County, suspected of having a financial dispute with a friend surnamed Chu, allegedly made a bomb and placed it in a cardboard box at Chu's residence. Unexpectedly, the package was opened by Chu's uncle and mother on February 14 this year, triggering an explosion that injured both of them. Prosecutors concluded the investigation today and indicted Wu on serious charges including attempted murder under the Criminal Code.

A package explosion occurred at a residence on Liming Road in Yilan City on February 14 this year, causing multiple limb injuries to a septuagenarian brother and sister surnamed Hong.

Subsequent investigations by prosecutors and police revealed that Wu had a financial dispute with his friend Chu. Wu, who has knowledge of electrical engineering, allegedly learned how to make gunpowder online for revenge and assembled a lethal bomb package at his residence in Toucheng.

Wu then drove to Chu's home and placed the package at the doorstep. However, the package was opened by Chu's uncle and mother, detonating on the spot.

Police later tracked down and arrested Wu. The prosecution requested and obtained a court order from the Yilan District Court to detain Wu and restrict communication, citing charges of attempted murder and violations of the Controlling Guns, Ammunition and Knives Act.

The Yilan District Prosecutors Office stated that the investigation has been concluded and an indictment has been filed. Because the crime Wu is charged with carries a minimum sentence of 10 years in prison, it falls under the Citizen Judges Act. The case was transferred to the Yilan District Court today and will proceed to trial with a citizen judge panel. (Editor: Chang Ming-kun) 1150605
