(Central News Agency reporter Huang Xusheng, New Taipei City, 5th) Kuomintang (KMT) Legislator Hsieh Lung-chieh held a fundraising dinner for his Tainan mayoral campaign at a restaurant in the New Taipei City Government building tonight, seeking support from Tainan natives living in Taipei. He explained his campaign platform and vision for the city's future, hoping to bring change to Greater Tainan. Many incumbent KMT Tainan city councilors and councilor candidates also traveled north to show their support.
Key KMT figures including Legislative Yuan President Han Kuo-yu, New Taipei Mayor Hou Yu-ih, Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an, Taoyuan Mayor Chang San-cheng, and New Taipei City mayoral candidate Li Sichuan all attended the event, cheering each other on, greeting tables, and shouting "electable," demonstrating the unity of the KMT camp.
Chiang Wan-an said his attendance represented support for his good friend Hsieh Lung-chieh. He noted that during a visit to Tainan last year, he was impressed by Hsieh's deep understanding of the city's culture, industries, and temple history. He praised Hsieh as one of the few people who dares to speak the truth, always upholding justice and taking responsibility even under pressure. Chiang presented Hsieh with a paperweight engraved with the words "Dragon Rides the Auspicious Clouds, Guarding the City of Government" as a blessing.
Chiang also praised Li Sichuan as a good partner and a key figure in keeping NVIDIA in Taipei, urging New Taipei City residents to fully support "Uncle Chuan," who works diligently for the people.
In his speech, Li Sichuan asked Tainan natives to help canvass and mobilize votes in their hometown, and also urged New Taipei City residents to support him as Hou Yu-ih's successor. Li then presented Hsieh with a hammer.
Hsieh Lung-chieh said the hammer would be used to break the unhappiness of Tainan residents in the past and to shatter the 33-year period without a party turnover in Tainan. He said Tainan residents expect more efficient governance, better transportation infrastructure, more reliable flood control and disaster prevention, more promising industrial development, and an environment where young people are willing to stay and work hard.
Chang San-cheng presented Hsieh with a horse sculpture, wishing him "immediate success." He recalled that when he was Premier in 2016, the Weiguan Building collapsed in Tainan, and he visited Tainan many times to assist with post-disaster recovery.
Hou Yu-ih presented a baseball bat to Hsieh, wishing him a "powerful hit." In his speech, Han Kuo-yu emphasized Hsieh's outstanding performance in the Legislative Yuan, his solid content, and his expressive ability. He stated that in a democratic society, Taiwan needs a virtuous cycle, and the good quality of the people will elect quality leaders, leading to good governance. (Editor: Lung Po-an) 1150605
