(CNA reporter Shen Rufeng, Keelung, 5th) The National Museum of Marine Science and Technology (NMMST) in Keelung launched the 'Polar Expedition Special Exhibition' today. The six exhibition zones not only display precious specimens and international scientific research results but also incorporate immersive technological experiences, leading the public to understand polar environmental changes and their profound impact on the global future.

According to a press release from NMMST, the 'Polar Expedition Special Exhibition,' running from today until May 2, 2026, primarily responds to the Ministry of Education's policies of 'Promoting Museum Upgrades' and 'Shaping a Net-Zero Sustainable Green Life.' The exhibition's main theme is 'From Expedition to Sustainability,' connecting humanity's century-long polar exploration journey through six themed zones.

NMMST stated that one of the most anticipated highlights of this special exhibition is the 'Immersive Aurora Interactive Theater.' This zone uses sensor interaction technology, allowing the brilliant aurora to flow and change with the visitors' steps, creating an experience space that combines technology and artistic aesthetics. The venue also features low-energy e-paper display devices, paired with precious polar biological specimens and scientific content, integrating the concept of environmental sustainability into the visitor experience, making it informative, interactive, and inspiring.

Furthermore, National Central University established Taiwan's first polar research workstation in the Svalbard archipelago in the Arctic in 2022. This special exhibition also displays first-hand observational data from the workstation, including polar ocean currents, sea ice changes, and glacier melt, showcasing Taiwan's active participation in and contributions to global climate science research.
